Serena Williams wins her second WTA title in a row!

Earlier today, Serena Williams defeated Sam Stosur 6-4 6-2 to claim the Rogers Cup title. This win will almost guarantee that she will be seeded that the US Open. She also leads the US Open Series standings by 40 points. Read on for my match analysis.

Although Stosur was ranked higher than Serena, she came into the match as the underdog. Stosur hasn't had very many good results this year, and she's struggled with her consistency. That said, everyone knew that she had the ability to challenge Serena if her forehand and serve were on.

For the first eight games of the match, Stosur played quite well. Although she didn't have any break chances on Serena's serve, she held serve with ease as well. The problem came when Serena started to return Stosur's serve with more conviction. She broke Stosur's serve to go up 5-4 in the first set and then served it out.

In the second set, Stosur disappeared (not physically, but mentally) and got broken twice to go down a 5-1 lead. Although she played an excellent game to get back to 5-2, Serena served four aces in the final game to win her second consecutive title.
